 Brief History

Cottage Industries Department, in short, D.C.I., originated in Office of the Superintendent of industries, established in 1947. The present tile was born in 1974, when it became a core department under Ministry of Cooperatives, for assisting Producers Co-operatives.

 

 Aims and Objectives

1. To supervise cottage industries according to Cottage Industries Promotion Law and carry out promotion activities for these industries

2. To monitor weaving schools in States and Divisions, and Lacquerware Technology College, Bagan

3. To provide technical services to Industrial cooperatives, and cottage industries and handicraft enterprises from private sector
